How’s the Internet Connection in San Blas, Panama?

The San Blas Islands, known for their breathtaking beauty and pristine beaches, offer a captivating getaway for travelers seeking a tropical paradise. While most islands in this archipelago do have access to the Internet, it’s important to note that international roaming can be quite expensive, particularly for those with carriers based in the United States.

To avoid hefty roaming charges and ensure seamless connectivity during your island adventure, there’s a simple and cost-effective solution. Before setting sail on the catamaran, take a quick trip to a convenient store in Panama City and purchase a Tigo SIM card. These SIM cards are affordable and readily available. Additionally, you can conveniently top up your Tigo SIM card with credit right there at the store, ensuring you’re all set for uninterrupted connectivity.

Although most islands provide full internet access, it’s worth mentioning that certain islands and cays may have limited or no internet connectivity due to the distance from the mainland or the reach of local antennas. One such example is the Mighty Cayos Holandeses (Dutch Cays), where the distance from the mainland and service antenna can hinder full internet and phone service availability. Moreover, BBQ Island in the Dutch Cays is known to have unreliable internet connectivity.
