Why Choose Sailing Charters in San Blas: What You Need to Know
Sailing charters in San Blas aren’t for everyone—and that’s exactly the point. While some travelers seek lively resorts, international crowds, and all-night parties, this remote Caribbean paradise offers something very different.

If your dream vacation includes beach clubs and loud music, San Blas may disappoint. But if you’re drawn to quiet islands lined with coconut palms, clear waters, and warm smiles from the Guna people, then a sailing getaway here might be just what you’re looking for.
Before setting sail to such a secluded and culturally rich destination, it’s essential to understand what to expect. Read on to explore the real pros and cons of booking a sailing charter in San Blas.

The Cons:
- Road transfers may require being ready to depart from your hotel in Panama City as early as 5:00AM. However, private flights can be chartered which will provide you with more flexibility for departure times.
- While you won’t encounter mosquitos while on anchorage, there are mosquitos at the port of San Blas so bring mosquito repellent.
- San Blas isn’t a party destination—don’t expect bars or clubs. But there’s one serene exception: Ibin’s Beach Restaurant & Bar, the hidden gem of the Dutch Cays, featured in our 5+ night itineraries.
- Sodas are not included but we make natural juice with the best tropical fruit. You are free to bring sodas onboard with you or your land transfer can stop at the grocery store on the way to San Blas
- While our catamarans offer more stability than a monohull, but they are still boats floating on the sea and may roll a bit at times.
