Which Itinerary Should I Choose For Sailing In San Blas?
Which Itinerary Should I Choose for Sailing in San Blas?
The best itinerary varies from person to person and depends on the number of days the guest books. Whatever itinerary you choose, when you book a crewed sailing getaway with San Blas Catamaran, we can adapt your charter to meet your interests and preferences to ensure you have the vacation of a lifetime.
There are many reasons to choose a catamaran charter for your next San Blas vacation. One key advantage is that catamarans have a shallow draft, allowing access to shallow anchorages. This opens up more opportunities for exploration in the area.
Moreover, booking with a professional charter company is crucial to avoid common tourist traps and ensure a seamless, authentic experience. At San Blas Catamaran, our expert local knowledge and trusted crew guarantee access to the most pristine, less-visited spots, making your journey truly exceptional.
At San Blas Catamaran, we offer a range of packages and itineraries tailored to your vacation needs. We offer short stays of 2 or 3 nights, but we highly recommend longer stays to truly experience the wonders of San Blas. As the days pass, San Blas unfolds before your eyes, captivating you with its charm.
Below, we’ll outline what a 7-day catamaran charter in San Blas looks like, showcasing the most exclusive islands—far from the crowded, nearby shores.
Day 1 – East Coco Bandero Cays

In this eastern group of islands within Cayo Coco Bandero, you will first meet the indigenous Guna people, whose kindness will leave a lifelong impact on your heart. The scenery and relaxed vibe of this region perfectly match what most imagine when they think of paradise. While here, you can relax and fully appreciate the breathtaking views that surround you.
Day 2 – West Coco Bandero Cays

After enjoying your breakfast in Coco Bandero East, you can then take a short 50-minute sailing trip to arrive at the isolated islands of West Coco Bandero. Interestingly, here you won’t even find the indigenous Guna people. This is your chance to be surrounded solely by magnificent reefs and marine wildlife, without any interruptions from the outside world. Afterwards, you can enjoy lunch onboard the catamaran and spend the afternoon taking full advantage of the water activities available to you, such as kayaking or snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters. Ultimately, it will surely be an experience you’ll never forget.
Day 3 – BBQ Island and Turtle Island, Cayos Holandeses, Dutch Cays.

Dutch Cays is considered, by most sailors, to be the best islands in San Blas. Here you’ll find islands commonly referred to as BBQ island and Turtle Island, the perfect locations for guests who seek adventure on their vacation. Thriving reefs, plentiful populations of lobsters and an array of colorful fish make this the best spot for snorkeling in San Blas. This is also where you can kick back, relax, and connect with the indigenous Guna people over a beer. The unique beauty paired with the once-in-a-lifetime experiences you’ll have will ensure that this is a day you’ll never forget.
Day 4 – Maoqui island in Dutch Cays

After your breakfast at “the Pool” in Dutch Cays, it’s time to decide which island to visit. Not an easy decision considering they all offer unique beauty to be experienced. The choice is yours, however, we highly recommend anchoring in Maqui Island on the other side of Dutch Cays where the crystal clear waters and sublime wildlife will take your breath away.
Day 5 – Cambombia island

After spending the first half of your day around Maqui, you’ll have a chance to set sail down south to a very remote island known as Cambombia. One of the best features of this island is that it delivers the pristine, nearly untouched paradise we seek to provide for our guests. You can jump on the dinghy and explore your surroundings dotted with tiny islands.
Day 6 – Bapurgana island

The stunningly beautiful Bapurgana island was previously sold from one indigenous Guna family to another for only a few dollars. An incredible island such as this could easily be sold for a couple million in other parts of the world. While visiting Bapurgana you can explore the gorgeous coral reefs and enjoy relaxing on the perfectly preserved shores.
Day 7: Corazon de Jesus and Nargana: Airport Departure

After a short one-hour sail, you will find yourself at the runway for your 50-minute trip to Panama City. Alternatively, guests also have the option to sail from Bapurgana to the airport on the afternoon of the 6th, should they prefer to do so.
At San Blas Catamaran, we offer a variety of charter lengths and itineraries to fit your vacation needs. Moreover, we will be more than happy to accommodate your specific requests. Therefore, please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
